Angry Just replaced injection AND lift pump

My truck finally died on me. 3 years old with 80,000 miles. Checked my codes and they showed both my lift and injection pump were bad.

Took it to the dealer and after 8 dadblasted days they finally give me my truck back along with a bill for $550!!!!!

They said good old Chrysler Corp. refused to pay for my lift pump and that it was a new style pump so they had to do some rewiring. I emailed Chrysler and asked......(nicely) to be reimbursed but of course they refused. In the last 20 years I have purchased over $100,000 dollars worth of Chrysler products and they treat me like this....

Is there any way to get my money back or is this just the way it is for everyone?

Why wouldn't they cover it under warranty?

They said the lift pump was not covered under warranty. Is this true, or are they just trying to rip me off?

They covered the $1,000 Injection Pump and NOT the cheaper lift pump?

Yes, the Lift Pump (which probably died first causing the failure of the injection pump due to reduced fuel flow) is normally a warrantied item.

Yeah, who's fault is it that they had to switch over to the in tank pump anyway?? Did they call you prior to to the repairs and offer you the inferior pump that we all have anyway??

That's rotten, they should have charged you $0.00.

I'd be a tad bid upset too.

I would go back to the dealership and get the general manager and anyone else involved and have them explain 2 me why it isn't covered any more.....If that doesn't suffice you can always make a point to talk to a lawyer, would be good for everone else with warranties also.....get it straightened out so more people don't have 2 pay.....just a thought if they covered it before and no longer offer the part under warranty they have do replace it with something equavilent. I was reading in the 3rd gen section and a guy with a 04 had his lift pump die and they replaced it under warranty...should do the same for us.

A friend of mine with an 02 dually just had both his replaced and they did the in tank lp and everything was under warrenty. That is bs that they are pulling that on you. I had both replaced when I got my truck (already showing codes when we looked at truck) and never got any extra charge from it.

OK, thanks everyone. This is what I wanted to know, they HAVE been replacing the lift pumps for you guys under warranty. Does anyone have the phone # for the Southeast Chrysler representative, or how would I go about getting it? I have looked online and cant find anything.
I am going to be without computer access starting this evening until this coming Friday, so if anyone can post this info it will really be appreciated.

I'd ask the Dealer's service department for the number to your zone rep.
It might let them know you're not planning on going along without a fight.

That sucks - lift pump should be covered. I want to post the 5/100 warranty details but don't know how??? here is what is covered on the "diesel engine" category:

Cylinder Block and all Internal Parts; Cylinder Head Assemblies; Core Plugs; Fuel Injection pump and Injectors; Intake and Exhaust Manifolds; Oil Pan; Oil Pump; Timing Gear Drive belts and/or Chains and Cover; Turbocharger Housing and Internal Parts; Valve Covers; Water Pump and Housing; Seals and Gaskets for listed components only.

If someone wants me to e-mail the documents I can do that...I wouldn't goto a dealer without this printout...it very clearly states what is and isn't covered.

I wouldn't take that with you. Doesn't mention Lift Pumps there.
