Junk in fuel filter!

I changed my fuel filter for the first time. I don't know when it was changed last. I got the truck in June of this year. Well anyway, I found this gritey stuff in the bottom of the canister. Not metal, seemed to be hard chunks of dirt? Has any one else seen this in there filters? I put in a fuel filter from geno's. What do you guy's think it is?

Sound like the fuel filter is doin' it's job.

You probably picked up a load of fuel right after they received a new shipment and the junk on the bottom of their tanks got stirred up.

Re:Junk in fuel filter!

With over 155,000 on mine there was only one time that the filter was really dirty. I change at 15,000. The rest of the time I can see not dirt or discoloration. Course all fuel comes from truck stops.
