Hints.
Spray all of your turbo elbow bolts a while before you begin. It sucks to break one off or round it while trying to install the brake.

When pushing in pin #20, make sure you push it in until you feel it snap in place. It is easier to get at the ECM for this if you remove the fuel filter canister, or loosen the two 10mm bolts that secure it and let it fall towards the drivers side fender.

Exactly what Ramflasher said. These are critical points for proper operation of the brake. Once you have it, you will never drive another diesel truck without one.

I have no idea what you are paying for it, but there is a place...

Mechanicsville Dodge

where you can order them for about 575 dollars to your door.

Re:Jacobs Exhaust brake
I tried to order a Jacobs from my dealer. He said they do not make them for the Cummins. I said BS this is for a 6 speed equipped and they do make them. He said no, I checked the parts system and they are not available. I said "has your dealership ever installed one" and he said no. I said thanks for your help.

Re:Jacobs Exhaust brake
Just some FYI. My E-brake kit arrived today, and can't wait to get it in. However, since mine's a "98.5, I'm gonna have to have the ECM checked, and programmed for E-brake function if it's not already there.

For the required tools in the installation manual, they call for #56 and #27 drill bits. The #27 is merely used as a pilot drill for a 1/2" drill for mounting the solenoid plate. I would think a 9/64" drill would suffice. And the #56 is used to simply push the sealing plug out for the pin connection on the ECM. Here I would think a 3/64" bit, or "similar small diameter rod" would work.

The part number for the axle shift switch is NAPA #PP6490.
