Alpine,

I know a guy who might, if he has his arm twisted part with a 12v which used to be used as a back up generator power plant.

Let's see where you can twist the arm- also how much will it cost?

I'm quite down on my nerves with that. I hope that I'll get to pull the engine and disassemble it completely as soon as possible. What makes me angry is that I've just installed the head gasket. Hmmmm, blown away some $$$

Well, if it makes you feel better... I paid off my truck about two months ago... three weeks ago I burned up #6 and the cost of repairing that is looking like it will surpass the $8K mark and end up being more than my payoff amount on the truck...

Do you have any kind of junkyards out there? I know norway has a LOT of cummins the boys use to tow their wheelers with. Search around,I am sure they can be found.

alpineram,

I know you are anxious to get up and running, but if it don't get there as fast as you want I might be of a little help.
I am in Germany visiting a daughter. Be going back to WA state May 11, then returning to Germany mid June. I won't be able to check out the used engine for you, but if you need some parts that I could pick up for you in the states and carry back with me let me know.
Don't know if there would be a problem with customs bring in parts. Hafta check on that. Also, if you needed a hand on might be able to do that also.
Good luck,

Davey

This weekend was filled with pulling and disassembling the engine.
Number 6 is toast. Seems that the top ring was stuck and got the piston up to a crispy temp.
I'll try to take some pics and pst them later on.

On picture number 18, is that the spray pattern marks from the Mach/F1 injectors?

The cost to sleeve a single cylinder and resize it back to standard bore is about 400 dollars here. The scoring on the cylinder looks bad enough that you may not be able to overbore that hole.

A piston, pin and ring set per hole is about 150 bucks. If you plan on installing all new bearings, they are about 200 If I am remembering correctly.

let me know if you need help obtaining any parts from here for you Markus.

See if you can clean that piston top off real good and take a picture of the spray pattern. Picture number 0016 shows a few of the impact areas on the right hand side but they are obscured with soot.

I'll try to do a better pic- do you have a suggestion what solvent to use- I assume mechanical means are out of question.
I'll do the others for comparison too if you like.
The scoring isn't really that dep, I think I might be lucky with a 1mm over bore- would be a lot cheaper.
I'm gonna ask for the prices over here - let's see what kind of shock awaits me.

You can soak that piston in some solvent of just about any kind. It wont wash away the spray marks. They are very hard to get off. The light carbon will come right off and leave you a clear picture of the pattern.
