Injector pump died on the Cummins dyno
My truck was having a severe loss of power and blowing white smoke :'( like I was fogging for bugs on Wed. afternoon just north of Findlay, OH. Luckily I had no horses and was on my way to Cincinnati. I called the cummins truck center in Toledo. I got an appointment and turned around at headed towards them via backroads since I could only go about 40 max.
When I got there they went to work. They found that the diaphram for the waste gate was leaking so they disconnected the vacume line to it and said that it was the problem. I gave them $100 hooked the trailer back up and thought boy did I get lucky, I figured the worst with 241,000 miles on the truck. I got five miles down the road and it started all over again. I turned around again headed for the Cummins shop again.
The next day they hooked up a boost and pre-pump fuel gauge and took her to the dyno. Had her going 75 mph (45 psi boost!!, which I thought was alot with no wastegate) and then she sputtered and went quiet and never started again.

So, $2600 later I left Thursday night.
I still gota fix the wastegate and the manifold is cracked really bad on the underside where the turbo bolts up.

When it gets bad all hell breaks loose.

Was the boost pressure taken from a gauge in your truck or from the Cummins Dyno console? If it came from the Cummins test equipment your actual boost was probably 30-31 psi. They measure absolute pressure. I show 29 psi on my gauge the Mopar DBR III shows 43 psi.

The boost came from the Dyno Console.

Should I be careful and not push the truck too much since I don't have a boost gauge and the waste gate is shut?

Are you sure they was not measuring the boost in in/Hg. (inches of Mercury) Because roughly 43 inches of mercury would be right at 21 psi. Just a thought.
I know that Cat gives all of the boost specs in Inches of mercury. Cummins might be the same.

Adam
Check into some after market 3 peice manifolds. I had to replace my manifold @ 180,000. I got a stock manifold and after getting the bill from the ******* - I went into shock

Try 6 manifold gaskets @ $18.00 apeice.

It sounds like its measuring actual boost pressure. PSI is approximately 1/2 of the in/hg reading. If it were absolute pressure, you'd have to knock off the barometric pressure reading (approx 30 in/hg, give or take a couple for elevation and current weather).
