Injector line leak/oil contamination?
Howdy. Ran my truck about 300 miles before I noticed diesel fuel dribbling out of the #2 injector fuel line, where it exits the block. The nut wasn't cranked down hard enough; unbolted the intake heater and tightened it -- leak went away.
I checked the oil and took the valve cover off to inspect things. Oil is Mobil 1 and looks good -- far as I can tell. Level did not rise, no noticeable diesel smell. Looking at the injector set-up, didn't see how dribbling fuel on the outside could contaminate the oil. Truck ran too good for cylinder washdown, I think.
Dunno -- any danger of contaminated oil? Mobil 1's got 700 miles on it, hate to replace it if I don't have to, but I'd do it to be safe.
Thanks.

You should be fine. It would be pretty hard for an injector line leak to cause oil contamination on a 24v. This is because the 24v uses a pass thru tube. This is what the injector line screws onto. The pass thru tube on the other end is lap fit to the injector body. It also has an o-ring about midway to prevent fuel contamination or oil contamination entering or exiting the bore of the pass thru tube.
