injector flush, any truth to dealer claims??
Well last time I was at my dealer the rep they kept insisting on doing an injector flush since I reached 100,000km. He kept stating that it was a "directive" from cummins to let all serviced cummins that come in(over 100K) to do a flush to keep up with the warrenty. Now it doesn't sound like a bad thing but it costs $130+.
Is there any truth to the dealer/cummins claim?? tanks guys!

The warranty expires at 100,000 miles, so why would you need the flush to keep with the warranty?

(edit, just noticed you said "k" as in Kilometers, anyway, injector flushes are bull poopy)

I know when I went in and talked to the cummins shop in town here they said that the engine is actually warrantied to 150,000 miles and I would have to pay for the labor, but not parts. I dont know if this is true on the newer models but it is something to look in to.

If you absolutely feel the need for an injector flush, a double dose of Diesel Kleen in the silver bottle will do nicely. Probably the same thing your dealer is going to do, except without $125 markup.

I rather go out and buy a bottle of Power Service Diesel Kleen (silver bottle) and dump a good shot down in the tank and then take a nice good ride to Boise for the day to shop and turn around and come home. (~350 Miles) During the trip I will let the lead foot hit the skinny pedal a few times...
Boy does the ol' #2 black come out then... LOL
