How to Identify drivetrain components

Okay so I was on the amsoil web site looking at fluid capacities and such and the list of drive train components is seemingly endless. Different transmissions, differentials etc. I know that I have a limited slip differential with 3.53's. But how do you identify which type of components they are. Are there identification plates, or stamps in the housings??? I am just trying to get all of my truck info put into my computer so I have it for quick reference. Sorry for the newby question, this sort of technical stuff is way above my head. I just want to really know what my truck has, or doesn't have. Thanks in advance!!!

Dana 60 front axle, Dana 80 rear with the Manual trans. Transfer case could be either 241 DHD or DLD, check side to see if it has a PTO cover, if so, it is a DHD.

YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!!! Thanks again, I do have a PTO cover. What is the difference in dana rear and front axles? Just curious.

Would my tranny be the NV4500?

Thanks a bundle..

BTW got ahold of the SSI guys and I am going to get the steering stabilizer. My track bar that is on there right now is only about a year old so I am going to have to wait a while for the track bar upgrade, but thanks for the info on those guys, great customer service.

Nope, your tranny would be the NV5600. the 4500 was the 5spd.

Not sure what you mean by the differences in the axles?

All had Dana 60 fronts ( until 3rd gen in 2003 ) Automatic equipped trucks had Dana 70 rears, and Manuals had 80's.

Basically, just as the numbers go up, they get stouter.
