Ideal LP pressure...

What is the ideal range for LP pressure going into the VP44? I have seen a few comments, not sure where, saying that too much pressure was actually detrimental to the pump or a valve on the pump. Is anyone familiar with this?

10-15 psi. Try to stay above 10 at full power.

The pressure reading at idle is little more than useless. Some will disagree, but IMO you dont want less than 7 psi at WOT (Wide Open Throttle).

Well, I know you want to have some positive pressure but I have also heard people claim that even if pressure drops down to 1 or 2 psi that it is fine because the VP44 has a low pressure pump in it and that it doesn't even need a lift pump.
