Is IAT, MAP sensor cleaning needed?
Just wondering if I should be concerned about cleaning these sensors if I have an auto. tranny? I am up to close to 80,000 miles now, but I remember reading that they get more gunk on them in manual tranny trucks... Anybody cleaned them on an auto tranny truck and found them to be dirty? Thanks!

For the 30 minutes or so it takes to pop them out and clean them, it's worth it.
You may or may not notice a difference afterwards but having them clean will help your truck run better.
I have an exhaust brake on my truck and they both get mucked up pretty good in a short time and it really makes a difference on mine.
It's cheap maintenance, clean them anyways and it's one less thing to worry about.

I cleaned mine and it was slightly dirty. Use brake or electrical cleaner, something with no residue. Don't use carb cleaner, I've heard it does not do as good of a job.
Make sure everything is good and dry before reinstall, you do not want it to go boom when you restart the vehicle.

I cleaned mine at 50,000 & 100,000. Never noticed any difference.
I replaced both at 150,000 miles as an experiment and noticed no significant difference again.
That being said.... with 2nd Gens getting into the 200,000 + mile range..... couldn't hurt!
