I just adjusted my APPS...

I just adjusted my APPS by using this procedure and - WOW - what a difference!

I did some searching and reading about others who've helped their auto's shifting by adjusting the APPS so I figured I'd give it a shot since my was behaving poorly. My truck would always shift into the next gear around the 2200-2300 rpm range - even with me pretty much standing on the accelerator - just as the turbo was beginning to really make some power. I figured the root cause for my problem was my over-sized tires throwing the numbers off. Now, my truck will hold it's gear right up to 2800-3000 rpm. It's a totally new truck!

Quick question - is the need to adjust the APPS a sign that it's going bad? I've only owned the truck for 6 or 8 months. In this time, it's always behaved as described above - never any better, never any worse. I suppose time will eventually answer my question but I thought I'd throw it out there. Feedback? Thanks.

No, Idaho Guy, it doesn't mean that your APPS is going bad. It's kind of like restarting your computer when it starts doing strange things. Sometimes electronic things need to be "reset." I did my APPS two years ago, and I haven't had to do it since, and it's still going strong.

Idaho Guy,
My truck 's shift points changed when I went up tire size to 315's. I wonder if I should try this out on my truck as well? I couldn't hurt anything I don't think.

Will any kind of difference be felt adjusting the APPS on a 6spd truck? It feels fine right now, so I wouldn't want to fix something thats not broke
