I had a power steering problem, HAD being the key word

Hello All

I had a problem for quite some time with my power steering. I changed the pump, changed the steering gear box, and changed the hydro booster none of which made any difference.... well after changing the steering box again, then building a T to check system pressure, I find that system pressure is 1200psi and I still have no steering

so working with a local rebuilder in the Denver area, I asked him to build me the equivalent of a PSC 1400 series pump and set it to a 1500psi relief setting. I put the pump on today and bleed the system and all is well steering works good as new...

I personaly believe the pressure relief did the trick but wasent in any mood to tru any more test steps to get my steering working......

just thought I would post up my info since there are so many "steering is crappy" posts already

The relief pressure is supposed to be 1450-1550 PSI according to 2000 svc manual. Maybe aftermarket isn't keeping up with manufactures specs. JMHO

very well could be, I didnt look up the spec but after seeing the pressure on a gauge, driving the truck, and knowing how the valving in the pump works I had a suspicion.....
