hydraulic clutch pedal question
I had a new clutch installed last winter after my stock one disintegrated. The pedal was just fine after the install with about 1/2 to 3/4 inch freeplay.
Over the last month the freeplay has increased to nearly 2 inches and the pedal has to go nearly to the floor to disengage the clutch.
I stopped by the trans shop that did the clutch and he thinks it's normal.
I don't know, I think the hydraulic clutch system is getting weak. It's not leaking externally but something is giving up.
Should I just go and get a new hydraulic release.?? Who has the best deal on them.??

Doubt bleeding will fix. Buy the complete Master cylinder and slave. Best price found is RockAuto.com for some thing like 160. You can get pieces cheaper individually and put together. Is PIA for most of us and the other component generally goes out 5 weeks later.

That is not normal. He just doesnt want to mess with a comeback. Those plastic master and slave cylinders are junk. Sure wish they were still linkage or at least aluminum or stainless steel or some kind of better material.

Thanks. I'll call today and find out how much they cost.
I need to do something as the pedal is getting worse. The actual ingagement distance remains the same, it just gets closer to the floor. I just went on a trip with my GN and went up and down some pretty good grades over 300 miles and seemed to stay the same this time but the next day I feel like it had sunk further. I trimmed the floor mat so I have a little further to press the pedal.
A local guy suggested the thrust bearing may be wearing out in the motor. That's hard to believe. I don't think I have ever seen one go away in all the motors I've ever
been around. Not even ones with the super heavy duty clutches.
I went back to the trans shop again and confirmed that they put in a new release bearing with the new clutch so I have to think it is still ok. The old one was still operating even after the disk and pressure plate came apart at 210k miles.
