Re:Hows everyones 6speed
30K miles. Grinds into 3rd when cold. Grinds a little when hot into 3 & 5. Will not go into any gear except 5th once hot, I have to shift into 5 then 1 or 2 to get started once its been in neutral??! Also does not grind when I double clutch it so something with the syncros?? might be wrong. Most miles empty but have towed a 3500 300 miles and 6K lbs for maybe 3K miles.

Going into third is a little notchy, especially when cold. Going into reverse is a pain but I found a trick. Go into 5th gear first before trying reverse. Slides right in with very little effort.
;D

MikeyB

Well I'm quite surprized, seem like a small percent has serious problems. It sure seems that more quality controll is needed at the factory before shipping product. The only time I have a problem getting into 3ed gear is downshifting around a corner With a 5 would not be to bad but with 6 you have that extra slot to get it into?

Re:Hows everyones 6speed
Mine shifts great. If it is 30 degrees or colder the first shift into third has to be done slowly. All other gears are smooth, even reverse. Now I don't try and speed shift, it's a truck transmission. I will stay with the OEM lube until I'm out of warranty. Figure by then we will have more information on how the other lubes are working in the NV5600. I figure I will do the first OEM lube change a 40K miles. That will be a couple of years. Also I don't tow or haul anything. Mines a Mall cruiser, just got it for the good looks

Re:Hows everyones 6speed
Well seems like most just have a slight gear engagement issue.
Deiselbuilder, your friends that are having problems with this growl does it do it just in one gear (5th-6th, 50mph) or all and what are the engine rpm's that it accures? Also did they feel any vibration on the floor board/go pedal when this was happening, did the tranny shift OK otherwise?
Reason i'm asking is that I seem to have this "growl" also but mine is at it's worst in 5th (50-55mph) and 6th gear (65-70 mph), 1900-2100rpm and it is getting worse every day > And just so no one thinks it's the exhaust drone I know what that is but what i'm hearing and feeling leads me to believe I may have a tranny issue also.

128,000 miles on mine; still a bit of crunch into third, but really drives better now than when new. Many highway miles; I feel like I'm still breaking in the syncho's. Usually driven easy with light load; extensive use of exhaust brake so the tranny gets some workout in both "up" and "down" shifting. Original clutch, too.

Been changing with the factory lube at not more than 50k per round, but, may check out the Redline at my next change.
