Depends on how clean your fuel and environment is. The dustier it is, the more often you should change it. In Arizona, I've had to change fuel filters every fill up the dust was so bad.

I go 10K, pretty black by then around here....no noted loss of FP at this interval.

Thanks, 10k sounds like a good interval, I just have a low fuel pressure light on my truck, something I would prefer to never see turned on.

I wait till my FP drops a few PSI under WOT.
I get 30,000 out of them usually, but it is typically wet and not too dusty around here.

Once a year or every 25k miles!
starting with right after I replaced my VP because I left a plugged fuel filter in too long.
If you don't have a fp gauge replace the filter before you think you should!

I must be getting really dirty fuel here in Ohio. I have a Baldwin spin-on pre LP and the factory filter and the filters are clogging fast...sometimes after 2-3 fill ups and fairly easy to see psi drop to 4. A real PITA to keep changing them.

You may want to try some Bio Kleen or the like, as the clogged filters might be from an algae bloom in your fuel tank.

We have the refineries up here so the diesel is pretty fresh plus all the environment protections so every gas station pretty much has new double wall tanks etc...

Find some new suppliers!
I get easily 10 times more fill-ups before I see any drop in pressure. I'm assuming you're setup is the filters in series. Maybe change the order to get the finer filter second in line. It won't help with the crappy fuel but it should give you a little more time before the flow stops.

Sounds like good advice, now I just need to figure out when I should.

I change oil every 10,000, probably do the Air Dog filter & separator the same time

I change mine the fuel pressure drops and stays down..
some days it run 20psi all day then next day(when its hotter) it'll be 15..
the next morning back to 20.. some days to start at 20 the get down to 15..

at the moment almost 25k miles

you do have a fuel pressure gauge don't you? if not get one!

New to the site going off course a little here but I had a fass 150 installed 12 months ago and we were at Tyler state park with our fifth wheel and out of know where the pump burned up at only 10 months of use....luckily it was still under the 4 year warranty...I never changed the little plastic prefilter that came with it I wonder if that might have caused the problem...now I'm scared to go anywhere too far from home...any thoughts would b great!

Mike, is the Fass plumbed inline with a in tank pump still in place? if so that is something to look at. Those folks that have in tank pumps and choose to put the FASS downstream are just waiting for the in tank pump to fail and ruin the FASS as well.

Make sure it is installed properly with a draw straw or other setup that excludes the in tank pump Some guys get lazy installing them and don't do it right causing a big obstruction when it fails.
