how much fuel pressure after the filter
#3
I have a pressure question also. I put in a 0-30# pressure gauge in the 1/8 NPT fitting on top of the fuel filter. It goes to 12PSI before it starts, then drops to zero after it starts. One time it was at 11 at idle, but now it only registers before it starts. The truck has always run very strong with no problems at all. I've ordered a new pump to be on the safe side. I'm confused, ant ideas anyone?
Update: I installed a new lift pump and it cured the problem. If your gauge is registering 0 PSI at idle its time to replace the lift pump, IMHO.

I changes the lift pump in an hour. Fuel pressure went from 11 to 15 PSI at idle. I had 136K on the first lift pump so it was time. I also have pressure all the time now (see my post above) I believe my problem of zero pressure was caused from the 12 volt power being starved to the engine while the heating grid cycled on and off. When the heating grid cycled off the pressure came up.
Anywho, things are back to normal and I swear the engine runs quieter at idle with more fuel pressure.
