Horrible Surging Problem

Horrible Surging Problem
I've got an '01 5spd that's developed a horrible surging problem. The problem seems to happen at anywhere from 1500 to 2000 rpm with colder/wetter weather making things worse. I can feel the truck slowing down and speeding up while the boost gauge follows accordingly. It will happen under accleration and at highway speeds. Yet when I click the cruise control on the truck runs down the road perfectly with no surging whatsoever. This makes me think it could be something to do with the APPS/TPS??? The truck has a FASS, air intake, 4" exhaust, and the Edge Juice w/ Attitude installed. My fuel pressure runs around 14-16 psi(according to the Edge) so I don't think anything is wrong there. I have checked for computer codes myself with and without the Edge installed and nothing shows up. I also recently took the truck into the local Dodge dealer to have them run a diagnostic and nothing showed up for them either. The mechanic blamed the Edge system for causing the problems but the truck surges with the programer removed too - it's just not as noticable. Has anyone had similar problems or know what might be going on? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jason

Sounds like the APPS to me. Do a search on here for timbo1 or apps. His apps is better than stock and half the price. I've had mine on for at least 6 months and have had no issues at all.

Cobb...mine is doing similar. It sounds like it is not as obvious as yours though. Two weeks prior, the pedal went totally dead. I was able to reset it. But now have your problem.

Boost sensor?
My 99 surged real bad under throttle and turned out to be the boost sensor. It sends the ECM a voltage based on the boost it sees. It seems there was a short in the system and once boost reached a certain level (20psi) the boost sensor lost connection. Essentially the ECM thinks there is no boost and defuels, then the boost sensor sends the ECM a signal that there is boost and it refuels etc. Mine was a real PITA untill I replaced the boost sensor.
Could be another issue causing your problem. Something to ponder.
