Higher idle in winter months

Is anyone experiencing this. Truck idles normal during warm or hot weather but when it gets into the thirties and lower it idles about another 100 - 150 RPMS higher. When it does this, I shut it off at a stoplight, then restart....back to normal. Drive down the road(highway) kicks back up.

I started to notice this when I got home from my normal commute. Sitting in the truck a couple of seconds to let it cool down it would run a little higher thus more audible.

Any thoughts from anyone. I put this question out before without any results.

THANKS

Interesting. Never heard of it. Anything that would be temperature activated is not available for our year trucks. 100-150 RPMS isn't that much, it has never done it in warmer temps?

Nope, definitely not. I noticed it because of the much louder sound of the exhaust at additional RPMS

Its trying to keep up at a higher operating temperature... and add fuel to do so.

truck has been running at highway speeds for an hour. truck is at full operating temp. do you think that coming to a stop right off the highway will make this idle kick up.

do you think that I should put that cardboard inbetween the radiators to keep the heat in?

same with my 01 SO and my neighbor's 01 HO. 10 mph is the speed it drops rpm's. if I'm coasting steady at 10 mph it gets annoying since the motor will vary idle speed (up and down a few times before settling depending on terrain for example...)
