High oil pressure spikes/time periods
My wife calls and asks me yesterday what she needed to do with the truck. I ax 'er, whaz a ma'er wif it? She said the oil pressure is too high. I figure she means water temp., but no, its the oil. Said it ran over at the upper mark(110?, I dont remember now what it is) After about three miles or so it fell back to where it normally runs. Maybe a sensor going bad? What would make one run high oil pressure, if not a sensor? I hope I dont have to put it on high oil pressure medicine. :

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!

These intermittant problems are very hard to diagnose. If it were my truck for the little a sensor costs, I would just replace it and then go from there.

If it was chilly outside it could be normal.
Colder temps here, wait to start light stays on a little longer,
oil pressure starts out much higher till it warms up a bit.
Older truck such as yours, wouldn't hurt to replace the sender.

Re:High oil pressure spikes/time periods
Nice thing about the dodge oil pressure guage is it actually gives you a specific reading between low and high unlike the fords where you have LOW,MIDDLE,HIGH and thats it.
It will most definately be high when the engine is coldbut once the oil thins out a bit it will fall back down to normal.
Just wait till the real part of winter shows up and your in a hurry one morning, its amazing how high it can go..
