High Idle, I got it! & other strange happenings
Well, go hunting for the weekend, on the way in on the dirt/rock road fp drops to zero and truck starts missing and belching blue smoke bad and it's 9:30pm. I have 2 horses, fourwheeler, 5 bales of hay, 5 -14' panels and 55 gal of water and the trailer nose full of stuff. Of course I am halfway up a pretty steep climb so I just let her idle/struggle up the hill in 4 lo/1st gear. Get to the top and am comtemplating changing out the lp, so I shut her down. A voice called to me to start her up so I do and shes alive again w/ 14.5 psi (post filter). I am all smiles and continue to camp with no problems. Truck sit's for 3 days. I fire her up to leave in the early morn w/ temps in the teens. She has fp pressure and is sounding good when slowly the rpm's rise to 1200. I hit the brake and it falls back to normal. I am like HEY I GOT HIGH IDLE but how? A few minutes later the rpm's head back up to 1200.
How is it possible that I could have high idle? It has never done that before but it's always plugged in (all winter).
On the way home I did get to change out the lp and luckily I was able to do it in my shop at work. FP went to 0 but truck continued to run normal. I only had to drive 10 miles.
Pulled codes: overboost and throttle p.o.s. sensor.
And no I didn't even see an elk . Only heard 2 shot's!
But I am going back this weekend.

if you've messed around with your brother's Smarty, you will have high idle enabled... i.e., the stock program that Smarty loads is the latest and greatest from Dodge and contains the high idle program.
