Help removing tailshaft housing on 241 transfer case

I am trying to install a Gear vendors OD on my 01 6Spd. The 241 transfer case has a single tailshaft housing that I can not seem to get off. When I loosen the 4 bolts to the case the housing moves a little bur refuses to come off. Any help?

There is a snap ring under a cover on the top of the housing. Really a pain to get to! 2 torx screws hold the little cover on, the you have to hold the snap ring open to get the cover to slide off.

I found the rubber plug, and with a mirror can see the snap ring. Do you squeeze or spread apart. Looks like squeeze. Seems to be an internal ring. Either spread or squeeze it looks like a hard one to reach while it is in the truck not much room between the bottom of the cab and the opening.

Spread! Need a pair of 90 degree snap ring pliers with the biggest flat area as possible!

Thanks, I will try and get a pair tomorrow. I still can't envision how it will spread.
