Help! I Need My Axle Disconnect Back!

Is it possible to add the front axle disconnect to a truck that had it eliminated (all 02s built later have the axle disconnect elimintated so the front drive shaft turns all the time). My wife also owns the same truck but her's came with the axle disconnect. I'm thinking either convert mine back to disconnect or swap front axles with her. My truck now has a 10 inch lift on it so I'd prefer that driveshaft not be turning all the time.

What's involved in the conversion back to a disconnect? Would it be easier to just do an axle swap?

http://www.cardomain.com/id/rattlindodge

It would be a pain to convert because the passenger side axle tube, shaft, etc is different. You could swap axle's with somebody, lots of people don't like the disconnect and would rather have the solid axle like yours. Also Dynatrac may have a kit to convert your existing axle to locking hubs, might cost some $$ but it would be stronger than the factory disconnect if you do any serious 'wheeling.

Manual hubs, if available, sounds like a good cost effective solution, IMHO.

ya i would convert it to lock in lock out hubs! since u have a big lift and a nice truck at that!! i would say it would be better and stronger than the dissconnect.
