Help, how tight to you torque l.p. banjo bolts

I decided to put my new lift pump in this morning.
I noticed the bolts on the old one were not very tight.
I have it all back together now, but am NOT SURE where to torque the bolts. Expecially the banjo bolts. The others I can always keep an eye on.
I know with aluminum it's easy as hell to strip things out, so I thought I would check with you guys to see. (maybe those banjo bolts go into steel????j)

I know I'm paranoid, but About 15 years ago I bought a used full dress harley....about HALF (that's right) of the bolts in the casings, covers, etc. were stripped out (except for the ones in steel) and I ended up buying a full set of heli-coils just cause every time I took something apart I found the idiot had stripped another bolt. Eventually after a few months, it was tight again. ....
I NEVER WANT THAT TO HAPPEN TO MY CUMMINS.

Just snug and a little more - about 18ft/lbs.
Don't over do it or, you can break them. They only need to seat against the washer, and that makes a pretty good seal. Just snug and see if they leak.

Use new crush washers and if you get it snug, check it. If you are under 16lbs...tighten to 16 and check for leaks. I had one twist ever so slightly trying to get it to 18. I believe it if its a drilled out banjo, its easier to twist off at 18. Heads up.

BEEN THERE DONE THAT. oh man i was so ticked. it had it around 35-40 ft lbs when she broke. i know, i know im a moron. but 18 ft lbs is a hair more then finger tight. i thought it needed more but that shows what i know.

second time around it went much smoother. i didnt try to give it another lick "just to make sure" it was tight

Wow,

My banjo bolts don't look like those. Mine have shorter heads, and they appear to be aircraft (300,000 p.s.i) stainless.(due to the color) The heads are machined a little bit oval), From what I've read, APPEAR must be the operative word here. I tightened them before waiting for replys due to lack of patience. I am sure they are more than 18 foot pounds, but how much more I don't know. Now you got me worried that I'm going to be cruising down the highway and ..+!@#$ you know....

The bolts in the picture above are tapped bolts for a FP guage. Hence the bigger head. I had a torque wrench set at 12 lbs snap that one. The next one I got and the other hi-flows I just snugged with my socket wrench, and checked for leaks when I ran it. I don't bother with the torque wrench anymore.

That particular bolt I was putting in the VP 44 for my FP guage. It was actually easy to remove the threads still left in the pump after the head popped off.
