I finally got my truck back on the road after two weeks of being without it. I put in a LUK 13" dual friction unit to replace my stock 12.25" stuff (6 speed). New flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, even new hydraulics. Now with the new clutch its very hard to get it into gear from a stop with the engine idling, especailly 1st and 6th. Is this normal for a new clutch? It shifts okay once you get going but getting into gear from a stop is difficult.

 

No, it's not normal. Is it possible that you still have air in the hydraulics?

 

It was a sealed unit pre-filled with fluid. The only opening in the system is the quick connect between the two pieces. How would I go about bleeding any air out if there is any?

 

I put a new con ofe in my truck and i had the same problem and i put new hydraulics on mine and it helped a lot. When i first put it in i had to put it in third to get it to go into reverse but now i can shift mine with no problem. It took mine awhile to get broke in.

 

My FE installation didn't change the shifting at all.


I'm of the mind that your condition is not normal.
