hard cold starting problem
First of all let me say i love this place, have found many fixes by doing searches.....so that out of the way
My truck has about 45k on it, i changed the fuel filter about 2k mi ago. the lift pump is new and putting out good pressure. the batteries are good, and the heater seems to be working fine. The other day i got in, it was about 32 degrees out, and had to crank it over quite a few times to start it. usually it starts right away no matter the temp. the rest of the day it starts fine until i leave it set for say 10 hours, then same thing all over again. btw i dont think its bad fuel, i always fill up at the same place, and this is after about 2/3 of a tank. I would really appreciate any ideas on this. I just hope its a sensor or something easy .....ha ha

before u start it, try bump starting . turn key to start but dont engage starter. this causes lift pump to run. there might be a slight air leak somewhere. this will purge it. if it starts easier i would think you should look for air leak somewhere. by the way ive read of a vaporlock condition that might cause this. u might try starting it with fuel cap off. also make sure fuel tank vent is unobstructed.

yep, letting it go through the grid cycle. I'm on my way outside to check the tank vent, and air leak. Will be back in a few to let you know the results

Okay, i let the lp run twice before i fired it up, turned the key on, bumped the starter.....heard the lp run.....repeated....then let the grid heater run through its cycle. the truck seemed to fire a little sooner and then loped for just a second or 2. then runs fine. i think it might be and air leak somewhere.
