Had the fuel pressure tested...is this how its done?
I just had the fuel pressure tested at a shop and all he did was hook the guage up to the injection pump and have me free rev the motor. Idle was 12psi and WOT was 7-8. Shouldnt I know whats happening at a load? If this is how the dealer will test then no way will I get a new LP. If I still add a pusher pump will this help in fuel psi? I am trying to get a FP guage but its not as easy as one would think. Everyone has their own little set up to sell.

Yes that is how the dealer would check. My dealer gave me a new one when mine was at 12 WOT. I'm lucky though most wouldn't. I have a stewart warner electric fuel gauge. It was simple to hook up. It is very plain jane, but only cost me 70 dollars versus 200 for the one that matched my other gauges.

Hey BigBlue, How do you like those Dakota digital guages? I was thinking about one but I remember how digital stuff washes out in the sun light and makes it hard to see the numbers. Does this happen on those. And how is their costumer service? Plus how did you hook up the FP guage. Is there an isolator, a sendor, or does it hook direct to the guage?

The Dakota Digital is all electric so it uses a sender. I mounted the sender to a bracket from the brake booster then attached the sender using a grease gun hose the the banjo in the bottom of the water seperator. Of course you will want to get a banjo kit from Wildcat Diesel or Genos garage. The kit will include a banjo fitting taped to accept the grease gun threaded hose (1/8 NPT).

Tim
