Took it in on Monday and they had the tranny out Monday afternoon, went in yesterday and the guy had found my problem. Apparently there is a little c clip that holds the third gear clutch in place and I managed to break it... first one he had ever seen!

anyway that clutch band just kinda fell out

the other clutches werent in great shape but by no means bad for having a ton of miles on them

should have my truck back by next friday

Happy new torque converter, and a bunch of nifty other stuff that will allow me to do injectors and/or fuel box

should be fun!

 

Tell the mechanic I was the first one that did that. Last July.

For as bad as it sounded and felt the cure was more painful than the cause.

 

Mine felt absolutely painless.. no jerk no nothing, third gear just wasnt there.

but for ~$1500 I get a reworked tranny with new clutches, valve mods and some other neat stuff to make it hold some more power, and some nice towing... all that with a new t/c and installed.. I cant say im unhappy
