If you have a 3rd zerk, you must have a Steering Stabilizer to secure the steering box.
Only two from the factory.... one on each top side of the front axle assembly, just inboard of the wheel brake disks.... on upper ball joints

I wish I was as fine, as those who work the pipeline!
There are three on the rear drive shaft at the universal joints as well. My front drive shaft does not have any that I can see or find on the u-joints. Including the two on the front (ball joints) by the brakes, makes a total of five.

I may be calling them the wrong thing. If you stick your head in the front wheel well and look straight down there is a grease zerk there. I thought that that was the ball joint but I am probably mistaken. There is one on each front wheel, those are the two front zerks I was referring to. My truck, besides the couple of mods in my sig, is bone stock. With those two and the three in the rear drive shaft there are a total of five. States there are five in the manual in the maintenance section also.

Adding grease fittings
I should go and look in the now two part maintence book to see what that part is called??? It is a small ball joint? for L/R front side above axle. Anyway mine was shot in the first year and a half so WHEN I got the correct part I drilled and tapped it and put 272 Locktite on it and it is still good. One of the mechenics commented where I got a greaseable one? Unlike the rear one. Pump out the factory grease and pump in the syn grease before it is installed. They sure last ALOT longer,I have been blowing the seals with grease and it works better then before.

I think it is the upper ball joint, maybe they changed the design, and added it, or maybe only on trucks with auto tranny??. Don't know fer sher, but in my manual it says there are 5 on my truck but it does not say where they are!!!!! I just found one of the three in the rear drive shaft when I had my bed off!!!! OOOPS
I can personally guarantee it has plenty of grease now
