Fuel Tank Module

Fuel Tank Module
We pulled the fuel tank module (mine doesn't have the fuel pump in tank.) Does anyone know if the fuel filter and the screen filter on the bottom of the module can be eliminated? We put on a FASS fuel pump (which has a filter the fuel goes to before it gets to the pump) and the stock fuel filter the fuel goes to before it gets to the VP44. I don't see a need for the 3rd filter in the tank.

remove it, it was designed for the stock system.... but i don't why you would want to unless it's giving you problems...... my module is the way it came from the factory except for the sender, i have around 180000 miles

You will need some thing to keep fuel around the pickup
Heavy braking, hard acceleration, steep hills will wreak havock on the fuel delivery system, anything below a half tank will likey pull air, in extreme conditions, because there are no baffles in the tank.

I'd leave the strainer on the bottom of the tank. Keeps the big chunks of crap out of the fuel system, so you won't clog up your filters as fast. I'd also hang onto the stock filter too. Extra filtration is always good. I've been running my truck that way for 18 months, never seen a reason to get rid of it.

-Much easier to work on left side of engine with filter canister out of the way
-With FASS's hugh Fuel Filter, you can run a 2 or 3 micron filter, without loosing flow....where as the factory filter, downline from the FASS, is only 10 micron. Probably not doing anything.
-I gained 1 psi fuel pressure when I removed the factory filter/canister.
Just my $.02
DIEZELCHICK - Company that make the DRAW STRAW recommend leaving the bottom 'mesh' layer in place!
