Fuel system issue - I think?
Having a major problem with my '01 and can't seem to figure it out (no error codes either). First thing I noticed was revving from dead idle the engine cuts out badly and blows blue smoke (it doesn't do this cold, only after warming up to temp.). Revving from 1200 rpm plus - no problems. Also noticed cutting out at 70-75mph+ (410 gears so it's wound up at that speed). Filter has been changed, lift pump has been changed. Disconnected the injection pump wire coming from the Banks comp (thought maybe the ottomind was failing). Nothing has helped. Any ideas (hopefully short of replacing an injection pump)?

How does it idle after revving up?
Mine never threw any codes, just idled like it was missing a cylinder or two.
Never saw any wierd smoke though.
Anytime the rpm's got below 1K, it got rough, almost to the point of dying on me.
Result: VP44 replaced under warranty at 4,000 miles.

Actually idles fine. I also can hear (not feel) a little bit of surging at 75 mph or so. I'm starting to think that I should accept the fact that I'm going to have to shell out the $$ for inj. pump.

One thing that you can look for is possible air pickup in the fuel system. I had a lot of problems in relation to the tank pickup, worst thing, I could not see anything wrong with it, but it pulled air. Could easily result in what you are discribing, not sure about blue smoke but....

I'll do some more checking in the fuel system regarding air intake, etc. By the way, any recommendations on a "1 stop shop" for a fuel pressure gauge set up (full kit where I can order all hoses, connectors, gauge, tree, etc. - have a 2 gauge tree now but will need a 3 gauge one with the pressure gauge)? Thanks for the help.
