Fuel pressure guage install questions
I just put in a stewart warner fuel pressure guage and wired it all up and am getting nothing on the guage. it is electric. the guage comes on so I know there is power. I put the tapped banjo bolt on the back side of the fuel filter housing. Is it possible that it really is 0 I can hear the pump running but it does take time to prime after I change the fuel filter had to crack 3 injector lines last time. Also no codes. I tried grounding the sending unit to the - side of the batt also still nothing. any ideas?

Have someone bump the starter and then you can crack one of the fittings on the filter to see if the filter housing is being pressurized.
I think the 99-s have the same fuel filter cannister as the 98.5-s, like in the drawing?

Had the same problem when I installed my gauges in AUG, 2000. Bumped the starter, no fuel pressure. Cracked a fitting, no fuel. Had to remove one of the fittings and filled the inlet side of the fuel filter with a turkey baster. Took a while, bit it worked. Had the dealer replace the LP under warranty.

Yea I am kind of thinking that the guage is correct I can get a new lift pump for 145 so maybe I will get it and just change it. I would think that just cycling the key should show pressure on the guage but nothing. When you guys change your fuel filter do you ever have to bleed the system and crank it a bunch maybe a few minutes (not in a row) to get fuel out of the injection pump?

Make sure the sending unit is grounded. I know it should be being screwed into the canister but you'd be surprised. Just take a piece of wire and wrap it around the sender and ground it. I had to do this to mine and it's screwed into a fuel pressure regulator. This is where I'd start before doing anything else.

the vp44 will run fine on 0psi but not for very long , you need to remove the sending unit from the canister cap and use a taped banjo bolt on the vp44 or the bottom of the filter you need to keep eye on fuel to the pump not the filter

one more thing to make the sw sending unit last get a copper oil pressure gauge kit it has 6' of line and the fittings for $7 also get a snubber connect the snubber to the sending unit and mount it to the firewall do not cut the tube just leave excess coiled up
