Fuel Mileage vs. Outside Temperature
I have had my 02 for two years and have found some interesting correlations with outside air temperature and my fuel mileage. When the outside temperature drops below 60 degrees F, my 02 looses fuel mileage. With my 93 running the same fuel the fuel mileage never changes summer to winter. Here are the relations for the 02;
Outside Temp 40, I loose 10% fuel economy
Outside Temp 20, I loose 20% fuel economy
Outside Temp 0, I loose 30% fuel economy
Warm up times are the same every day summer and winter, it is plugged in during the winter months for a faster warm up. Currently I am running summer fuel, No. 2 fuel, with fuel treatment and getting the same results as I do with winter fuel, No. 1 fuel. My question is; does the AIT sensor change timing as temps get colder to to affect my fuel mileage this much? If not, what do you all think could be the issue? I would like to fix this problem as I am only getting about 11 MPG with outside temps below 10 degrees in the mornings now. This same trip to work in the summer, temps above 60, I get 17 to 18 MPG.

The timing is directly effected by IAT numbers. www.mopar1973man.com has IAT foolers that are providing nice bumps in fuel economy.
It does stand to reason that your fuel mileage will drop as the temp drops. This is from more dense air, colder tires, colder lubes/fluids. These factors have an effect on all rigs, but the IAT and the ECM also have an effect.
Your 93 should be showing signs of the cold weather effecting mileage as the other factors I listed will effect it as well.

And for what it's worth, here is the thread that discuss I(ntake)A(ir)T(temp)s over there. Intake Air Temps Some interesting reading. I certainly notice a correlation between low IATs and worsened fuel economy!
