fuel filter change, now no start
Finally got the pressure gauge installed and noticed my fuel pressure dropped to about 5 at WOT, so we changed the fuel filter out just to see if it would make any difference. Now the truck wont start at all. I cycled the key a few times to fill up the fuel filter bowl. Also, after cranking the engine over a few times I can hear the lift pump pumping and brings the pressure up to 15psi, I dont remember it doing that before. What couldve happened? and what needs to be done

If you bump the starter, the lift pump will cycle for 20-30sec as opposed to 5sec when you turn the key on/off.
also try cracking a couple of injectors while cranking the engine

Loosen banjo bolt slightly where the fuel line goes into the injector. Engage the lift pump to bleed off air. You should get a strong fuel flow. Retighten feed line bolt...truck should start. If not, try bleeding the air out at the injectors. If no start, you may have injector pump problems. Hopefully not. Good luck.

alright so it running for 30sec is normal? thats good. I cracked 2 of the fuel lines at the head but nothing is coming out. How long does it take for fuel to start coming out? are there any tricks?

After the injector has been primed, the injector pump itself is what pumps fuel to the engine. The engine must be turned over to bleed the injector lines. If you get a strong flow at the injectors when bleeding them, engine should start.

Bumping the starter only turns the lift pump on, cranking the engine gets the injector pump spinning.

alright thanks for the input, I bled off the return line from the IP to get some of the air out that way then cracked 3 of the injector lines and cranked it till some fuel came out and now it runs. It takes a while for the pressure to build back up to 15psi but im guessing thats just because of some excess air in the lines. Good to hear it run again.

Mine always has a problem after changing the fuel filter. I bump and bump and finally it sputters and then runs smooth. I think this whole thing is like swinging a dead cat over your head it depends on the truck what will make it start.
