Fuel additive

I was wondering Redline diesel fuels is recommended. I have used them in the past and acutally saw some results but I am not sure if they are worth using (lift pump problems, etc)??? Also, is there any tricks to doing the fuel filter on a 98.5 24 valve. I have never done it before so it looks pretty difficult to get to without removing things. This vehicle stuff kills me I am used to working on boats (plenty of room)

Don't know about Redline, but Power Service and Lucas make a good fuel additive. The filter is relatively easy to change, drain the canister(by turning the yellow tab) into a container, when empty loosen the nut on top(middle) of housing while supporting canister, it may not just drop off, may have to pull it down a little. Remove old filter, and replace w/new filter. At this point you can refill the canister w/diesel and reinstall. I usually fill the canister w/Lucas upper

I'm using Redline RL3. No problems, but who really knows if that means it works? Used it in my '83 Ford with 6.9 and Banks turbo too. I liked it's claims and it's economy of use compared to many other additives. I get a gallon for $35 and it treats 1200 gallons. I have a general positive feeling about Redline products across teh baord..but that's me.

Where does everyone buy their redline products?? I see them and Amsoil being used on this board in every lubrication/fuel thread. I have looked locally, but can not find them for sale. Shipping it in always jumps the price, but if the products are really worth it, then I can justify it.

Try Redline's website for a dealer near you. You can also call them if yo'r striking out there. I've found their dealer list isn't very complete.

I lucked out and found it at a local autoparts store for about 15% off of list. Quite a few places sell it at list around here.

Speedshops commonly carry Redline and others too. For the most part, Amsoil is through an amsoil dealer. DTR has a rep in the links (or did). I have found it at speeshops too though.
