Front wheel bearing replacement help
I tried a search but did not find anything, at least not for my truck model. Are there any write ups on changing front wheel bearings/universal joints for my truck? Also looking for a online parts manual source. And any advice would also be appreciated. I grabbed the right front tire and wiggled it and it had quite a bit of play both up/down and sideways. I'm assuming the bearing is shot? Oh the joys of buying used vehicles:-) It's got just over 200,000mi. on it.
My truck is a 2000 2500 4x4 cummins.
Thanks.

In the Wiki Section under 3rd gen there is a write up my Mr. Gadget that should have some useful info and pictures.
To summarize.
Remove hub cab
Remove Center axle bolt(I belive its 1 11/16
Remove tire
Remove Caliper
Remove Rotor if it comes off easily(not sure which year move to the new style rotor hub setup.
Loosen 4 9/16 bolts on back side of steering knuckle that hold unit bearing
Use extension and power steering to press out hub(see pictures in writeup)
This would be a good time to replace the U joint on the axle. Also on reinstall make sure to lather the new bearing with anti seize on the surface that mates to the knuckle.

I just replaced mine on my 99 last weekend. Keep searching there are a few great write-ups on here. Rock auto had the cheapest Timken's I could find if that's a brand you want. If you are going to do ball joints and tie rod ends go to advance auto parts assuming you live near one. They carry Moog and that's what I wanted for my rig. Order your stuff online and use the code BIG35 it saves you 35.00 on each order over 85.00. I placed five seperate orders as close to 85.00 as I could to save the most. I hope you have an easier time pounding out your u-joints with a hammer than I did.

3 days later job finally done, only to find the other side brake caliper was leaking. So, off to NAPA and get a new one. Maybe now I can work on installing my fuel pressure gauge. Thanks for all help here.
