O.K., having had the truck now for around 30 days. We made two events so far with it. Found out that we have a couple of issues with her. (Water Overtemping under a light to steap climb) I'll talk about that later in another thread, however, this morning I start her; key on, waited untill the red "wait to start light" went out, the amber light for fuel pressure at the H2O filter came on. (This was added by the prevous owner.) Cranked and the engine fired off. Amber light went out. As it should. Then the enging begain to "SURGE A FEW HUNDRED RPM'S" 850-1100. It did this for about 5 to 10 seconds, then I gave it fuel and it settled down to around 850 rpm. During the surging, I did not get a amber low fuel pressure light. Was wondering, does this 1999 2nd gen engine have any kind of "Cold Start System" ? Looking for an owners manual and a service manual at a reasonable price. Untill then, I am assking for your knowledge. Out side air temperature was 74 F and very humid, has been raining in Oklahoma for several days.

1. throw the idiot light away.
2. Install a fuel pressure gauge so you know what's going on.

3. You may have water in the fuel. Do you have the stock lift pump?
4. Cold start is called the grid heaters.
5. Over heating may be a clogged radiator because of location of puke bottle.

Sounds like you need some basic fuel & probably suspension upgrades.
