Filters - Fuel and Oil - Recommendations please
What do you recommend?
I asked the air filter question and got tons of info. I am going to the BHAF tomorrow and thought I should get my other filters to replace all at the same time.
I have used Mopar products for Fuel filters cause the dealer threw three in the truck when I bought it. They are gone so I am wondering if there is something great out there.
I use Fram for the oil. Without too much abuse, is there something better to use.
Thanks for helping educate me.

Best thing to do is cut the tops off of old filters and look inside at the construction. fram is a single element while stp makes a double element. which is better? i don't know. I lean towards the stp but i'll screw on a fram if the parts store is out of stp (they're never out of fram for some reason). Look at aviation tool and part suppliers for a filter cutter. It's nice to see what your filter is pulling out of your oil as well. could avoid some problems...

I have not cut the top off. That would be a good test. I use the extra-guard filter from fram, which I took to mean it was a double filter but reading their website it does not state two elements.
I am heading to NAPA tomorrow and to grab some Fleetguard.
What are your opinions on oil? I am using Rotella but want to try AMSOIL. I got a detailed letter from a supplier that touted the benefits of the synthetic oils. He is on 60K miles without an oil change, only changing filters and topping off the oil. He does oil analysis to prove the oil is still meeting requirements. I am skeptical but want to give it a try.
Thanks for the previous advice and any more you can impart.

I use NAPA Gold on mine. I agree Fram is not the best quality, actually the worst IMO. Here is a link to an "oil Filter Study" - should give you some idea who makes a good filter and who makes a bad one. Check it out.

I bought Fleetguard from Geno's Garage online. They have a 4-2-1 maintenance package good for 30,000 miles. 4 oil filters, 2 fuel filters and 1 air filter (hope I got that right) Plus I like to have a spare fuel filter under the back seat just in case.
