filter # question .....

are the part #'s for the 12 and 24 valve oil and fuel filters the same ?? i found a chart with all the #'s for the 24v i have saved in my fav but cant remember if they are the same as the 12v. thanks, scott

12v and 24v are different, and the 3rd gen has a different filter too. The only difference between the 3rd gen and the 24 valve ones is that it costs more, and has the fluted ends. If I remember right, the 24v has a heavier case than the 12v filter due to higher oil pressures or something.

Fleetguard filter numbers for a 97 12V:

Fuel - FS 19598

Oil (Standard) - LF 3349
Oil (Microglass) - LF 3552

LF3894 is the 2nd gen 24 valve Stratapore (premium) filter. Local Cummins recommends it for all 12 valves, too.

I think if you go to geno's garage, he shows all the filters, part #, and a price aswell

Same exact filter. One part # has the can with fluted ends, the other has a smooth can. Filter is the same, the threaded hole is the same size and pitch. they are interchangeable.

How about the oil filter at the Dodge dealer...is it a Fleetguard or some piece of junk Mopar had manufactured offshore?

Renegade, its most likely a Fleetguard dressed up as a mopar. As are most Cummins parts that are available at a Dodge Dealer.
