fifth gear nut

A friend of mine just had the fifth gear go out on his 98 ctd. Just wondering if anyone has instructions on how to do this job and what is needed. Also I have heard that its possible to replace the nut without dropping the trany. Thanks for any help.

You need a copy of TSB 21-10-98, and "yes" you don't have to drop the trans. Getting ready for the rally?

Yes sir. There are lots of people here already. The rally seems to come sooner each year. Thanks amartinson. I knew that I saw it somewhere just couldnt remember where. This should make things much easier.
