Fed up with this dang Trans

I hope you can help me out, I have a 99 Cummins Dodge, with a Edge Comp and
80HP injectors, Before I had a good build valve body, and a heavy duty TC, The
tranny would slip overdrive locked on setting 1, We concluded it was the tranny
slipping and not the TC, I ordered a Extreme Overhaul kit from suncoast, And a
local guy overhauled it, found a snap ring almost gone in OD, and a couple bad
seals which were leaking pressure, I just got it back today, took it for a spin,
no slipping on setting 1, I get into setting 4 and 5, I can feel something
slipping in 3rd and OD locked, I am hoping it is the TC, cause the new tranny
clutches shouldnt be slipping with the kit and good VB, The converter I got is a
Precision 1800 stall single, and was only 350 my cost ( I work at a Dodge
Service Store), Does it sound like the converter is slipping to you? it would
make sense when I am pushing 200hp over stock with the chip on 5. I am concerned
than the brand new trans is slipping, but I done know how, I can take off at
setting 5 from a stop and it flies through the gears and I feel no slip, only
when locked at low rpms. Do I just need a more expensive triple TC? Please help
me out, I have been trying to figure this out for close to a year now. If you
believe it is the TC (which it sounds like it is)

If youre only problem is at low rpms when the converter is locked, i'd say that you need to upgrade to a better torque converter. If you can wing it, go ahead and spend the money on a good triple disc and be done with it. With a good converter your tranny should be good to go for a while, considering you have a fresh rebuild and a valve body. Just as long as you dont manage to snap a shaft

What are we talking "low rpm". It's been suggested by a builder that helped me to not go under 1500 rpm as the pump won't be capable of supplying proper psi/volume of fluid under load.

tranny

I just get an email from Dave at goerend, and he says almost no question the converter is slipping, and that was probably the problem before, cause once the tranny clutches slip, its not long before the truck is not frivable, and It was slipping for a while, and the fluid was always red and never burnt. So It sounds like the converter is my problem, not the tranny (thank goodness), from a stop on power level 5, there is no slipping whatsoever that I can tell, only locked, which makes sense that the converter is slipping, I only feel the slip locked. Goerend has pretty good prices and the lifetime warranty is unbeatable, and I see nothing good about those converters.

dave's TQ are amazing products he can build you one custom if you have a lot of mods like mine... see he set mine up so i can float the rpms at launch which lets the turbo's spool up quickr and locks up when near max psi... this way im not struggling the turbo's to get up the speed or putting to much load on the tranny in the low end.. he said i would have plenty of preassure in the lines for perfect lock later on compared to earlier lock up where the pump is not able t produce enough... the next thing would be upgrade to the new 48re drum pump.. it is able to produce a ltitle more preassure...
