Fan Clutch won't disengage
It just got up to 97 degrees in this fine texas heat. Just recently after changing my oil, which I don't see how it could have anything to do with it, my fan stays on all the time. Even when I first started it up this morning the stinking fan was on. It creates more drag than I would like. Has anyone had this problem? Is this normal or do I need to have it replaced? The truck has 62,000 miles.

We have been in the tripple didgets here too, and my fan is starting to cycle on more. Even in this heat it should cycle on and off, unless you are pulling a load too. Last week when I was driving the E-way in the heat, my fan kicked in for the first time and I hit the brakes to stop to check out what the new noise was. Haven't heard it since last year.
If yours is staying on all the time, you may have a bad fan clutch, if it comes on when warm and stays on you may have a plugged radiator.

It would be running "warmer"
My uncles 2000's radiator was getting full of junk from the blowby bottle at about 200K miles, and when pulling a load the fan would run nearly all the time, with the needle on the gauge being just a needles width above 210 (or whatever the middle mark is on the later models). Empty it was right below the mark, and the fan would kick on climing a hill at freeway speeds.
His thruck was a 5spd, 4.10 gears if it means anything.

If your coolant looks grungy, use some flushing solution to clean it the best you can. I sometimes use cascade or equivelent. It rinses out better. Use new antifreeze and good water. If your tap water is questionable buy some purified water or distilled. Then get some coolant conditioner and add for an initial charge. Make sure the fins on the rad core are clean and not bent over. Robinair sells a comb to straighten them out.
