Factory LP replacement

I replaced my factory LP a year ago with an AirDog and am currently rebuilding the engine. As I am putting it together i am looking for ways to save space. i thought about eliminating the LP mounting bracket to provide easier access to the starter. Isn't that bracket covering up some holes or something? How about if I just cut the top side of the bracket off and bolt the engine mounting side back up?
Any thoughts?

IMO, really the starter is much easier to access from the bottom side and hopefully the need to access it only comes every 5yrs or so.

Yes, it serves as a cover for the cam hole.

You could cut the plate down and or make a block off plate which would only need 2 bolts. If you go this route, just buy a 12V lift gasket and burn some steel, drill a couple of holes and mount it up.
