Exhaust Brake Installation Questions
I got a Jacobs brake off Ebay last night, and have some questions for people who have installed one before. 1. How long does it usually take for someone with decent mechanical skills to install? 2. Is there a gasket between the Elbo & Turbo? If so Is it reuseable, or where do I buy one? 3. I know about lubing the bolts on the flange to get them to break loose easier, but do I need to, or can I, lube the bolts holding the elbo to the turbo? 4. Where do you mount the plate with the sylinode valve? 4. Where is the vacuum that I'm supposed to tie into? Thanks in advance for the replies. This site is great for all the knowledge the members.

Instructions manuals, etc., from the Jacobs people here:http://www.jakebrake.com/support/par...obs_product=42
The control valve mounts on the firewall, aft of the turbo.
Should be able to splice into the vacuum line with a 'wye' or 'T' fitting just aft of the valve cover, a little to the driver's side.
Mine's been working flawlessly since Cummins Rocky Mtn, installed in in NOV, '99.

Thanks barney. I saw that site after I posted yesterday, and found out my gasket question. I also found a great site with a lot of installation pics that helped understand the job more too. I believe I will be trying it this weekend if the brake gets here. We have a trip planned to the hill country next week, and it would be great to have. Thanks again. Nelson
