electrical problems
Hello,
I have a 2000 ctd with all the bells and whistles. Here recently the lights started flickering getting brighter the dimmer. I also noticed that the blower motor for the air conditioner surges kinda like the lights at times. I am going to get the alternator checked, but the amperage guage always looks normal in every instance, i thought maybe the grid heaters were cycling but it does all this when the truck has been running for awhile, that and its been over 96 degrees down here every day. I did not have these symtoms in the winter time. Truck has about 90,000 on it presently. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I would check the simple stuff first like the batteries (water level & gravity), cables & connections. It could be as simple as a bad ground lead or dirty connector.
Also check your alternator for output. Check the regulator for function as well as the diode pack. Need a special tool for this!

Sounds like the elecrical
Parts that draw alot of current and are grounded to the chassie are having problems.Check all the chassie grounds. There is a main ground near each battery.Take them all loose and clean them till you see clean metal. There is also one on the firewall that connects to the engine towards the passenger side.Merv
