ECM question

Does anyone know if this ECM D/C 03-24-99 P/N 3942860 S/N 4037809 will work with my 2000 Dodge QC 4x4 TD? I need a core ECM for the mad swap.

Just pay the core charge, get your new ECM, send the old one back, and get credited. Another option is to send in the one in question. If it's going to be reprogrammed anyway it won't matter.

What I did was buy one off of ebay for $150.00, send it to Bob Wagner who checked it out and sent it over the pond for the MAD program. I kept my stock ecm for emissions testing, in case it fails with the MAD ECM. We will see. By the way, the ECM is AWESOME!!!!

Doesn't the ECM record things like mileage and engine hours??? Will that screm your Odometer up?

Or is that all stored in the Dodge PCM?

In the PCM, nothing changed when I installed the Catcher, except the performance!

Pretty sure the ECM records the engine hours, but we as 2nd gen owners have no way of verifying since we can't check them ourselves.

I don't think the PCM stores the odometer either, see people changing out PCM's in gasser forums without any mention of the odometer.

I believe the instrument cluster has it's own computer module, and the odometer is stored there.

Hmmm o.k.

I've been told different, but who knows.... Maybe it says something in my Haines Manual.

For curriosity sake I'd like to have my engine hours read etc from the Cummins ECM in my truck. Just curious. I believbe with the right scan tool you can do that.

I have changed out the instrument cluster in a 2001 and the mileage is stored in the instrument cluster.

So when you put new cluster in the Odometer read 000000?

I belive in some vehicles the mileage may also be stored in ECM or PCM.

IE. A friend decided it would be a great idea to pull the speedo fuse on her Z24 because she was way over the miles on her lease. But I believe the dealer can still pull the actual miles off of the ECM.

It's gotta be stored in multiple locations, otherwise it would be too easy to commit odometer fraud.

The readout is fed by the dash cluster module though.
