Well, I'll add my .02.......you may not like it........if the drone may be coming from the rear, then I might lean towards a carrier bearing problem......typically with a rear end bearing noise if the sound starts when you are off the throttle and coasting, it is pinion bearings but if the sound starts when you are on the throttle and disappears on coast, it is carrier bearings. If the bearings are just starting to go you may not hear them at slower speeds in lower gears........for your sake I hope it is not that but it sounds like it might be....

Well, if it is any consolation, I have had the pleasure of ruining carrier bearings and pinion bearings in my Jeep over the years and the droning sound of smoked carrier bearings under power was typically audible at all vehicle speeds........so, I hope I wrong too

Crobtex my truck seems to doing the same thing as your truck. But here is the weird thing mine is an auto and it sure sounds like something in the lock up part of the torque converter. If you let off the pedal it quits but as soon as you step on it and the converter locks up the drone comes back. I had it to the dealer the service manager whom I've known for years said he agrees that there is a problem but doesn't know what it is either. I have owned this truck since new and I have 73,000 on it now. It never done this before about 65,000 mi. As far as tires are concerned I waited to reply to this until I put new tires on my truck, replacing the O/E Michelin LTX M/S with the very same tires and the drone is still there so it is not the tires. Any ideas??? Thanks

I still havem't figured mine out. Right now it don't seem to be as bad. Or, maybe I just have the FM up a little louder.

I've pushed pulled and tugged everything under the hood and front end and can't find anything that might be loose or out of balance. I hate this not knowing.

Yeah I know what you mean I just crank mine up too!!! lol But I'd still like to figure this out. I am sure it is something in the driveline.
