Draw Straws... ?

I'm looking to get a new lift pump of some sort, but my searching has shown that a lot of people suggest draw straws.

But, I'm seeing some weird things about needing to keep the tank over half full or no less than a 1/4 full.

What is the issue with draw straws? I don't want to have to worry about keeping my tank at a certain level do I?

24valves are like politics, the more you find out, the more scared you get...

The reason for that is when they drop the tank, they support the middle, bowing the bottom up, and cut the draw straw to short. I did mine with the tank still in the truck, and I lifted the bed. Tank was in its natural position. I've been right on the empty line with the fuel light on with no stalling issues. Cut it the right length, and its no worry.
