Drag racing with NV5600
Has anyone ever raced their CTD with NV5600 at the strip? With mods or stock doesn't matter. I have not yet, but would like to except for one thing. It seems that I run out of RPM's really fast compared to the speed that I'm going on the street. In these little back road tests that I occasionally do, I start in 2nd gear, but it seems that 2nd & 3rd does not get me very far before I have to shift again.
Will things like injectors (which kind) and an Edge Comp change that feeling of high rmps and low speed ?
I love this truck for the power it has even now, but I can't see it doing very well at the track.
Thanks for all your input !

Before I sold my 24v/6spd in Feb, I drag raced it for 3 seasons. It was only a 460hp truck, but I had fun with it.
Mine had 3.54 gears so I had to do 2nd gear starts, but with you having 4.10's you should be able to do 3rd gear starts. But the 4.10's are going to kill you because in combo with the short gears of the 6spd, your tranny is gonna wind up faster.
The Edge Comp is a good box, but I wanted a higher RPM capability, and only TST's Powermax Comp could get me 3500 RPM's.
You'll need at minimum 100hp injectors of whoevers brand you choose.
Don't forget a clutch!

I haven't raced but it's fun getting onto the freeway or passing a slower moving vehicle -
The six speeds are stout and great for towing, but they don't shift like a muncie with a Hurst.
With 4:10's you run out of RPMs almost as soon as you shift - then at 40psi you have to be quick just to keep the turbo from barking between shifts.
If I was going to race I would want an automatic.

I've raced mine a few times, too, and it's not that bad. With my 35s and 3.73s I've been starting in 2nd 4WD and lauching at ~2500 rpms. In my 01 Auto I could cut 1.8 sec 60 times, and in the stick I can get high 1.9s, but it's not a huge defecit. The biggest time killers are the shift to 3rd and to 4th, but with some work you can make 'em a little quicker. No matter what you're going to be 1/2 - 3/4 second behind an equally powered auto, but you can still be pretty quick and consistent.
