Does the NV5600 tranny have a nylon or aluminum shifter bushing?

I dropped my shifter bushing into my transmission and I hate the idea of pulling the tranny if I don't need to. I have searched with a light high and low, and even removed the PTO installer covers, still no sign of it. If its plastic I won't worry about it and I'll go buy a new one, if its metal, well there goes my weekend..................

Just curious, why would you not worry about it if it were plastic? That is not something you want floating around your transmission waiting to get lodged somewhere or get jammed in the gears. I would look for it, that way you would prevent any FOD (foreign object damage).

i think it would grind it up, not lodge in the gears. But then you have all the peices of it floating around in your transmission and contaminating your bearings.

Still, you wouldn't want to put anything between the gears except oil. I know I wouldn't. Especially considering that it is way easier to fish out one piece, than to get a bunch of little ones out. And if you do fish it out, you can re-use it, rather than buying a new part.

I have already looked high and low, it cannot be seen or reached, I think I am going to remove my transmission and take it apart, it would bother me to take the truck on a long trip with it floating around in there. Plus, if it did get sucked into the gears, it would probably force the gears apart and do as much damage as a steel or aluminum piece.

'Djoo actually drop it in the trans, or is it under the seat(s) tracks, or trapped between the backuplite harness and the body?

Try taking the PTO covers off and the shifter. Then used compressed air and a blowgun. Its probably hung up on the shift rods or forks. I'd try everything I could as removal and disassembly is no easy task

I've already looked there, believe me, that was the first place I looked, it has to be in the tranny, I have already took off the PTO covers and shone a light all around from top to bottom, as soon as I get a a chance I am going to try to blow air around and see if it shows up. I'll let ya'll know where I find it.

Not to try to scare you or anything but I have seen a piece of hardened plastic the size of a 22 bullet destroy a gear driven oil pump in a B series engine.
