My main complaint is dead pedal. I borrowed a scanner and found three codes, but nothing related to the APPS.

P0216 - I know what that means

Also got a code for "Heater Grid Relay A" (can't remember the number).

The other code was P1693. Could that be set by the grid heater?

I used an ODBII scanner by Auto Xray. I'm not sure if it gets the PCM and the ECM. I want to find the cause of the "companion code". I'm 99% sure I need a new injection pump, but I want to rule out all other possibilities first before I spend the $$.

So back to the original question, does a faulty APPS always show a code?

I guess I will answer my own question.

From my research, a bad APPS "should" throw a code.

Other points of interest - the plain english explination of the 1693 code is: This code is set in both the PCM and the ECM. What causes it? Didn't figure that out. What it is intended to do is notify mechanics that their are codes in one of the two computers. It doesn't identify a problem, it just tells them to scan both computer when diagnosing problems.

The EZ Read 2000 (Autoxray) only scans the PCM.
